The study of Physics in Stage 6 aims to enable students to develop an appreciation and understanding of the application of the principles of physics, and of the theories, laws, models, systems and structures of physics. It also enables students to apply Working Scientifically skills and processes to examine physics models and practices and their applications.

Is Physics very different from Year 10 Science?

It is quite different – but that’s part of the fun of it! We go into depth into some of the concepts we only briefly look at in Year 10. The amount of work, the pace it is taught in class and the difficulty of the work does increase significantly.

How much study will I need to do to do well in Physics?

The Physics course can be a challenge for students not in the habit of regular homework. You will be required to do around 30 minutes homework before each lesson (four times a week). I’d recommend setting at least two hours or more aside each week for homework and regular revision.
